Advances in Stable Isotopes: TrAC special issue available / 28.09.2026

Prof. Dr Nives Ogrinc has edited Advances in Stable Isotopes, a special issue of TrAC - Trends in Analytical Chemistry a leading international journal in analytical chemistry. The special issue brings together 16 papers on advances in isotope measurement and applications across environmental science, food authenticity, ecology, health, archaeology and forensic science. 

Researchers from the Department of Environmental Sciences contributed two of the papers:

• Gačnik, J., Živković, I., & Horvat, M. (2025). “Mercury isotopes in the atmosphere: Synthesis, perspectives and analytical considerations.” TrAC Trends in Analytical Chemistry, 189, 118257.
• Giannioti, Z., Ogrinc, N., Suman, M., Camin, F., & Bontempo, L. (2024). “Isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) methods for distinguishing organic from conventional food products: A review.” TrAC Trends in Analytical Chemistry, 170, 117476. 

Together, the papers show both the current capabilities of stable isotope analysis and promising directions for future research.
