New Researcher Joins the ISO-FOOD Center / 25.09.2026

We are pleased to welcome our new colleague, Ivana Drventić, to the ISO-FOOD Center. She joins our research team with expertise in atmospheric chemistry, analytical chemistry, and the transformation of organic pollutants in the atmosphere.

Her doctoral research, titled “Mechanisms of Nitroaromatic Hydrocarbons Formation and Ageing in a Multiphase System as a Part of Brown Carbon Transformations in the Atmosphere,” focuses on the atmospheric chemistry of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nitro-PAHs.

As part of her research, she developed and optimized analytical methods for measuring these compounds in particulate matter and investigated their formation and photochemical transformation under atmospherically relevant conditions. Through controlled laboratory experiments, she examined aqueous-phase nitration and the effects of solid–aqueous interfaces on nitro-PAH degradation.

Her work provides molecular-level evidence for processes that influence the formation and evolution of atmospheric brown carbon.

We are delighted to have Ivana join the ISO-FOOD Center and look forward to her contributions to our research activities and interdisciplinary work.
