O2 Seminar - 17 June 2026 /

Join us for the O2 Seminar on 17 June 2026, at 13:00 in the O2 Lecture Room. Dr. Jože Kotnik will present the Department's drone and its applications in environmental research, followed by a live outdoor demonstration.

Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have become valuable tools in environmental sciences, offering rapid, flexible, and cost-effective approaches to data collection and monitoring. This presentation introduces the capabilities of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone, including its advanced imaging systems, intelligent flight features, operational limitations, and the regulatory requirements governing drone operations within the European Union. Particular emphasis will be placed on practical applications in environmental research, such as air quality assessment, ecosystem monitoring, water studies, disaster response, and environmental sampling. The presentation highlights how modern drone technologies can enhance scientific investigations by providing high-resolution data and enabling access to remote, hazardous, or otherwise inaccessible areas.

We look forward to seeing you there.
