Title
ICCRAM Microbiology and Toxicology research line: Evaluation of the Antimicrobial Properties of New Compounds

Speaker
Carlos Rumbo Lorenzo
Head of Microbiology & Toxicology Line, ICCRAM-EST Research Group
ICCRAM – Universidad de Burgos

Abstract
Hospital-acquired infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria are among the most serious challenges faced by modern medicine. They are linked to high mortality rates and pose a substantial economic burden on healthcare systems worldwide. There is therefore an urgent need for innovative therapeutic agents that could replace antibiotics which have become progressively less effective in recent years.

The Microbiology and Toxicology research line at ICCRAM is dedicated to investigating the antimicrobial potential of new compounds using a variety of approaches, while also carefully assessing their toxicity and safety profiles.

The seminar will offer insight into current strategies, methodological approaches, and future perspectives in the search for novel antimicrobial solutions.
