Title:
Participatory approaches in environmental health & supporting ICT-based tools

Abstract:
Participatory methods are increasingly applied in environmental health research to strengthen collaboration among researchers, government, industry, and civil society, and to support evidence-informed policy and practice. This presentation examines how participatory approaches, such as citizen science, co-creation, and stakeholder engagement, can be supported by information and communication technology (ICT)-based tools to facilitate engagement and improve data quality. Using applied case studies, it demonstrates how low-cost sensors, mobile applications, and digital platforms enable the collection of high-resolution environmental exposure data, enhance environmental health literacy, and support decision-making.
