K) Waste management

1. Sorption-diffussion studies of radionuclides and organic molecules in cement

Cement is one of the most common material used for immobilization of radionuclides and creation of multi-barrier systems for safe disposal of radioactive waste. This can contain also organic molecules, which can influence radionuclide mobility with time in ternary system of cement-organic molecule-radionuclide. Student will try to assess sorption and diffusion characteristics of most common ternary systems expected in future radioactive waste disposal scenarios and contribute towards better understanding of radionuclide mobility within such system.
