JSI participated in the analyzes of the Triglav glacier and the glacier under Skuta.

We are happy to announce that on 24/10/2022 Polona Klemenčič successfully defended her master's thesis with the title Exposure to Cadmium in Slovenian population, and a day later Jan Gačnik successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled Metrology of mercury measurements in air.

PARC je evropski projekt, ki ga sofinancira Evropska unija (EU) v okviru zdravstvenega programa Obzorje Evropa 2021 (Horizon Europe 2021). Projekt združuje 200 partnerskih organizacij iz 28 evropskih držav ter številne strokovnjake iz celega sveta. Proračun projekta je 400 milijonov EUR.

The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia has authorised the Jožef Stefan Institute for a further 6 years to carry out operational monitoring, namely to assess the total ambient air load in the area of evaluation of the mercury parameter.

On Friday, 22 July 2022, the Ecological Laboratory with a Mobile Unit (ELME) presented itself at the Firefighting Olympiad, which took place in Celje from 17 to 24 July 2022. 

Dr. Aleš Lapanje, Dr. Tomaž Rijavec, Maja Zugan, and Dmitrii Deev as members of the Laboratory for colloid biology, participated in the FEMS Conference on Microbiology, which took place from 30th June to 2nd July 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. 

On 16. 7. 2022 severe forest wildfires started in the Kras area on the border between Slovenia and Italy. As it is the place of Soča frontline during the first world war there are still a lot of explosives from that time. Within ELME (Ecological Laboratory with Mobile Unit, Civil Protection of RS) dr. Jože Kotnik performed air quality measurements, including mercury, in areas where fires were most intensive.

Stable water isotopes can help improve the understanding of freshwater resources. They can be used to better evaluate and map pathways of the domestic water supply system, even its interaction with different water bodies.
